[Fall Quarter]
Students learned how to create and give effective presentations in Japanese, putting into practice what they learned in their self-introduction presentation. They read articles with the theme, "The Manufacturing Giant: Japan". Following this, a Japanese guest was invited for a discussion on "amazing Japanese technology". Later, the students used the same topic to conduct surveys, learning how to compile data and write 'thank you letters' to survey participants. Within the class, one group chose to research about washoku (Japanese cuisine). At the end of the quarter, that group gave a presentation on traditional Japanese New Years' food, explaining the history and meaning behind each dish. Along with the presentation, they brought home cooked dishes for everyone to enjoy. |
